Well I took my daughter's truck in I told them it was just purchased for her and we were having some problems with it told him what the problems were we wanted to find out how much it would cost to get it fixed. They told me it would cost about this much to check it out and it was a lot and so when I went back to pick it up they had checked it out and said yes it needed a lot of work done like over $1,500 worth of work and that didn't include an oil leak that it would cost another $40 just to see where the oil leak was coming from. so I paid the $200 for them just to look at it and tell me basically it wasn't worth fixing and then after I got done I asked him if he knew any dealers that were around the area that dealt in used cars that were good. He mentioned that they had a service that for $$99 they would check out a used car and let you know if there was anything major wrong with it and if you wanted extra them to look for extra things it was $129 it was a used car check out it service they offered. So I was extremely disappointed to find out that they could have done all that probably for a lot less and that they didn't even offer that service to me when they knew we had just bought it and we're trying to figure out what's wrong with it so I spent $200 and literally found out it wasn't worth fixing and they did nothing other than tell me that and give me a list of everything that needed done which was over $1500 plus that still didn't include an oil leak that they couldn't tell me where it was coming from and how much that would cost without charging me another $40 to clean the oil off so they could figure it out. So needless to say they have $200 of my money but I won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend them, unfortunately.
Hi Ronda, I'm sorry for the confusion about our pre-purchase or used vehicle inspections. The testing we performed on your daughters Ford Ranger was for an intermittent stalling and low engine power issue. We also pressure tested the coolant system to pinpoint a large coolant leak. The engine and entire under carriage was also covered in oil. For us to accurately determine the cause of the oil leak we needed to steam clean the engine and drive the vehicle. After determining the cause of the stalling and source of the coolant leak along with a safety inspection, we contacted you to discuss how you would like to proceed. The cost to repair the vehicle would be fairly substantial and we wanted to give you the best advice possible. The purpose of the pre-purchase inspection is to visually inspect the vehicle and determine the integrity and safety of the vehicle. It does not include any pinpoint testing to determine the cause for specific problems. Along with performing pinpoint testing on your daughters Ranger, we also performed a very similar digital inspection that we texted to you with the overall condition of the vehicle. This is essentially what the basic level pre-purchase or used vehicle inspection includes and was performed on the Ranger at no cost. I am sorry for the confusion about what is included with the used vehicle check over and the pinpoint testing that we performed on the Ranger.
