Took my sons car here to have his air conditioner fixed and the quote they gave me was $3,100 which I thought seemed high so I ended up going a few other places for quotes and they were all over $1,000 cheaper. They were going to charge over $2,000 just in labor! Talk about getting ripped off! I called and asked what they charge for labor by the hour and he said they don’t have a fixed rate it depends on the level of the job. I ended up having to pay $167 just for having them look at it. I would highly recommend taking your vehicle somewhere else.
Tiffny, I am sorry you feel the estimate for your son’s Eclipse was too much. This car is not a stock vehicle and has many modifications and custom parts on it which will require more precautions to repair than a normal vehicle. We do not try to be the lowest cost provider, too many compromises must be struck to provide the lowest cost. We provided multiple part options from a lifetime warranty down to a lower cost 1 year warranty repair. We don’t cut corners to give you a lower price which will only cost more money when the repair must be performed again. The fact that our estimate was higher than another does not mean that you are being ripped off. Every repair facility will have a different approach to repairing your car. Not every method will cost the same, be as thorough, or provide the same warranty. Our labor rate does depend on the degree of difficulty of the job. The more sophisticated equipment required, and the higher technician skill level needed, the rate does increase. We don’t charge the same rate for an oil change as we do for a more technical repair. The cost of the A/C inspection is a very important part. Without accurately pinpointing the cause of the issue we would not know what repair is needed. The most expensive repair is the one that is not needed and will not correct the issue regardless of the hourly rate or how cheap the parts cost. I appreciate you bringing the car to us and giving us an opportunity even though we weren’t the right fit.
